New "View" Scores 10 Daytime Emmy Nods
The ladies of "The View" received 10 Daytime Emmy nominations Wednesday, including nods for best talk show and best talk show hosts. "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" received 12 nods, "The Oprah Winfrey Show" got four.
"The View" co-hosts have been nominated every year since 1999, but have never won an award. Outspoken and sometimes controversial host Rosie O'Donnell joined the show last year.
"Dr. Phil," "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," "The Tyra Banks Show" and "Rachael Ray" were also nominated for outstanding talk show.
Newcomer Rachael Ray was also nominated in the category of best talk show host, along with Dr. Phil, Ellen DeGeneres and Tyra Banks.Complete List Of Daytime Emmy Nominees
CBS received the most nominations of any of the five major networks with 57 nods. ABC received 36 and NBC nabbed 15 nominations. Syndicated shows received 53 nominations.
The 34th Annual Daytime Emmy awards will be handed out June 15 at the Kodak Theater in Los Angeles.
Maura West of "As the World Turns," Crystal Chapell of "Guiding Light," Kim Zimmer of "Guiding Light," Jeanne Cooper of "The Young & The Restless," and Michelle Stafford of "The Young & The Restless" were nominated in the category of outstanding lead actress.
Michael Park of "As the World Turns," Anthony Geary of "General Hospital," Ricky Paull Goldin of "Guiding Light," Peter Bergman of "The Young & The Restless," and Christian LeBlanc of "The Young & The Restless" were nominated in the category of outstanding lead actor.
Several daytime stars announced the nominees Wednesday on CBS, live from the set of the soap "Guiding Light."
The Daytime Emmys will be broadcast on CBS. Broadcasters and TV personalities will be presenters at the event and daytime TV pioneer Lee Phillip Bell will receive the Lifetime Achievement award.
The Daytime Emmy is awarded in 58 categories, including acknowledgements for series, performers and all other technical and creative areas of production.
