(CBS/WRAL) GOLDSBORO, N.C. - Mychayla Sariah Allen was arrested Wednesday after North Carolina police said she made up a story that she had been kidnapped to cover for the fact that she wanted to skip school.

Allen, 16, was charged with filing a false report with a law enforcement agency, reports CBS affiliate WRAL.

The Charles B. Aycock High School student told investigators that a man jumped into her car at about 7:30 a.m. in a Hardee's parking lot, pointed a gun at her and ordered her to drive, reports the station.

She then told investigators that she drove for several hours before finally letting the man out. She claimed he slapped her once during the ordeal, according to the station.

Police found several discrepancies in her story, and they said she eventually admitted she made the whole thing up. She told them she needed an excuse for skipping school since high school administrators called her mother told tell her Allen wasn't in class.
