N.C. man's $10,000 Nike Air Jordan collection stolen
(CBS/AP) CHARLOTTE, N.C. - A North Carolina man has reported that his collection of 30 pairs of Nike Air Jordan shoes was stolen from his home Monday.
NBC affiliate WCNC-TV reports that burglary investigators with the Charlotte Police Department are working on the case. The collection of sought-after Nike sneakers is thought to be worth $10,000.
The shoes belong to Bryant Toala, 22, who has been buying Air Jordans since he was in middle school. Police say burglars broke into his home on Monday night and stole the entire collection - 30 pairs of shoes.
Toala said all of the shoes were in boxes, and the thieves took every one. He showed the TV station the empty boxes in his room. The burglars also stole his 30 baseball hats that matched the shoes, as well as another 10 pairs of Nike shoes and electronics. The entire value of the stolen items is estimated at $22,000.
"I was upset," he said. "All that hard work to get them, getting in all those lines."
A re-release by Nike of Air Jordan XI late last year ignited a nationwideshopping frenzythat led to fights, vandalism and arrests.
Authorities said the burglars came in through the bedroom window. Police have no suspects.
