NBA star Blake Griffin to face battery charges
LOS ANGELES -- NBA star Blake Griffin will face misdemeanor charges stemming from a October altercation at a Las Vegas nightclub, reports CBS Los Angeles.
Griffin, the starting power forward for the Los Angeles Clippers, is accused of assaulting a man during an altercation involving a camera.
He was reportedly issued a summons in lieu of arrest for misdemeanor battery.
CBS Los Angeles reports that Griffin allegedly became angry before the 2:30 a.m. altercation, when cameras from phones began flashing in inside Las Vegas' Tao Nightclub.
He's accused of grabbing a phone belonging to Daniel Schuman, 39, before gripping Schuman's neck and slapping him on the side of the face.
Other Clippers players were in the club with Griffin, but no others are accused of involvement in the confrontation.
Griffin and the Clippers were in Las Vegas after playing an exhibition game against the Denver Nuggets.
