Nashville Ready To Rock
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (CBS/AP) Hard hit by spring flooding, Nashville is ready for a boost. And it will get one this week with the CMT Music Awards being held there tonight and the four-day CMA Music Festival, kicking off Thursday.
A raucous good time is expected as Kid Rock hosts the CMT Music Awards Wednesday night at the Bridgestone Arena. Videos by four of country music's hottest acts - Jason Aldean, Lady Antebellum, Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood - are finalists in three categories.
Ten others are nominated for two awards apiece with fans making all the decisions. A field of 10 video-of-the-year nominees will be whittled down at the start of the show and the night's winner will be determined by fan texts.
With the rowdy Kid Rock hosting, the usually lighthearted show could get interesting.
Brad Paisley, Tim McGraw, Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert, Lady A, Zac Brown and many other stars are scheduled to perform.
Nashville's biggest single tourism draw, the four-day CMA Music Festival, kicks off Thursday. The cash registers were ringing already this week as the population on Broadway began to spike over the weekend in anticipation.
