Murray Lifts Kings To Victory


Ex-Penguin Glen Murray scored one goal and set up another during a 27-second span of the second period and Jamie Storr posted his fourth career shutout to lift the Los Angeles Kings to a 3-0 victory over Pittsburgh.

Murray played for the Penguins from 1995-97 before being dealt to Los Angeles. He reached 100 career goals with a pair of tallies against Chicago on Saturday and remained hot tonight.

  • Murray opened the scoring with 2:01 left in the second period. Moments later, he found Vladimir Tsyplakov wide open in the slot from behind the net as the Kings took a two-goal lead with 1:34 to go.

    Storr stopped 10 shots in the first period, 10 in the second and five in the third for his first shutout since November 21st against Chicago. He backstopped the Kings to their second straight road win after they had dropping eight in a row away from home.

    Donald Audette tallied his second goal in as many games since joining the Kings on Friday, capping the scoring with 5:54 to play.

    Peter Skudra made 28 saves for the Penguins, who suffered back-to-back losses for the first time since Oct. 21-24. Pittsburgh was shut out for the third time this season and first since Nov. 7, when it skated to a scoreless tie with Boston.

    Pittsburgh was without a pair of injured starters in goalie Tom Barrasso and defenseman Darius Kasparaitis, both of whom were hurt in Monday's 7-1 loss at Toronto.
