NEW YORK (CBS) -- Police have charged a New York livery cab driver in the death of his girlfriend, 29, whose body was found in a barrel inside an apartment Sunday, CBS New York reports.

Moises Martinez, 52, has been charged with second degree murder and manslaughter in the death of Yajaira Reyes, a city traffic agent, reports the station.

An argument was reported before police responded to the scene in the Bronx around 5:40 a.m. Sunday, reports the station. Sources told the station that police saw Martinez's livery cab parked outside his apartment. When he didn't move the cab, police asked to speak with the woman, and Martinez reportedly told officers they couldn't because he had killed her.

He then pointed to a large container in the apartment, reports the station.

It's believed Reyes was strangled to death, reports the station. An autopsy is underway.
