Minn. teen ad contest on distracted driving has MTV hook
(CBS/AP) St. Paul, Minn. - In an attempt to kick distracted driving to the curb, safety departments are consulting the experts: teenagers.
Over 90 Minnesota teens entered a contest run by the state and the AAA, to make the best teen-produced ad about the dangers of distracted driving. To the winner goes a $1,000 prize, and the spot will air during the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards in August.
Minnesota public safety officials say that the music award slot is a good time for a refresher on the dangers of distracted driving.
It's down to five finalists, and now it's up to the public to decide the winner. You have until May 24 to vote at this website.
