Kent County, Mich. — Four people, including children, were killed during a shooting Monday at a home near the western Michigan town of Cedar Springs, according to the Kent County Sheriff's Office.
Sheriff Michelle LaJoye-Young told reporters Monday that deputies responded to the scene around 4 p.m. She said investigators aren't searching for a suspect, and the sheriff's office tweeted there is no threat to community safety.
"We don't have anybody outstanding that we're looking for at this point, that the public can help us find," LaJoye-Young said.
Later Monday, LaJoye-Young said the victims included three elementary school-age and younger children, but didn't elaborate about the victims' relationships to one another. Identities were still being confirmed.
LaJoye-Young described the scene as a "horrific thing to be called to" and said "my heart goes out to the families involved here and the community."
