Michelle Le's family, friends hold vigil for missing Calif. nursing student
(CBS/KPIX/AP) HAYWARD, Calif. - The family of missing Hayward, Calif. nursing student Michelle Le is praising efforts of authorities to find her and remains hopeful that she will return safely.
According to CBS station KPIX, relatives and friends of Le gathered Friday evening for a vigil in Hayward at the site where her car was found not far from the hospital parking lot where she was last seen.
The 26-year-old disappeared during a break at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center, where she was shadowing workers as part of a nursing class.
Police say she told colleagues she was going to get something from her car but never returned.
KPIX reports that Le's cousin Krystine Dinh said the missing woman found her calling as a nurse after her mother died from breast cancer.
Le is described as 5-feet-6-inches tall with black hair and brown eyes.
The family is offering a $40,000 reward for her safe return.
