Michele Bachmann to publish memoir
Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann is gearing up to tell her story in a new medium: a memoir.
According to the Associated Press, Bachmann, 55, will publish the book this November with Sentinel books, a conservative imprint of Penguin Group (USA).
The AP reports that in the memoir, the Minnesota congresswoman will "share previously untold stories" about her life - including "her roles as a tax attorney, a wife, a mother of five and a foster mother of 23."
In a June report about the book, which is as yet untitled, the New York Times wrote that John Fund, a Wall Street Journal columnist, would "assist" Bachmann in writing it.
In a statement released via Sentinel books to the AP, Bachmann described the memoir as a way to "help to share my enthusiasm for an energized, pro-growth economy, and the life experiences that inform my optimism for the American people and for American greatness."
"People are the most important ingredient in life," she said in the statement. "I love people, and I care deeply that our nation's economy turns around so they can realize their American dream."
Bachmann joins a long line of politicians who have published books about their lives and political beliefs: Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney published his second book, "No Apology: The Case for American Greatness," in 2010. Recently, Texas Gov. Rick Perry has been forced to defend several controversial statements from his 2010 book, "Fed Up!"
President Obama has also published two bestselling books, 1995's "Dreams from my Father" and 2006's "The Audacity of Hope."
