Michaela Harte-McAreavey, Bride of Irish Athlete, Murdered on Honeymoon
PORT LOUIS, Mauritius (CBS/AP) Police have charged four hotel employees with the murder of Irish woman Michaela Harte-McAreavey, who was slain during her honeymoon on the Indian Ocean nation of Mauritius.
The 27-year-old teacher was killed two days after arriving in the African country. Harte-McAreavey was the daughter of a prominent manager in Gaelic football, Mickey
Harte, and had married Gaelic footballer John McAreavey on Dec. 30.
Authorities told the British Press Association the victim had been dragged into a bath tub and strangled before the water was turned on. A hotel key had been used to enter her room.
All four suspects are employees of the luxury Legends Hotel where Harte-McAreavey was killed. The suspects are due in court on Wednesday.
