McNamee Pleased On Criminal Referral Of Clemens' Testimony
Brian McNamee, the former trainer who first raised the allegations that Roger Clemens used steriods and human growth hormone, is pleased with the decision by the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee to make a criminal referral to the Justice Department over Clemens' statements to the panel.
"The Committee should be applauded for conducting a fair investigation and making a bipartisan referral to the Department of Justice," said Mark Paoletta, McNamee's lawyer, in a statement. "In particular, Chairman Waxman and Ranking Member Davis should be commended for their fine work. The Committee's investigation - and this referral - go a long way toward showing all of us that no one is above the law - not even our most revered athletes. Based on a review of the evidence, it is clear that a referral regarding Roger Clemens'[s] testimony is warranted. Brian McNamee told the truth about injecting Roger Clemens with anabolic steroids and human growth hormone when he testified at his deposition and at the Committee's hearing."
