(CBS)
From CBS News' Dante Higgins:

LITCHFIELD, S.C. -- Fresh off yet another Republican debate, John McCain continued campaigning through the Palmetto State talking about the economy at his first event today.

He reiterated comments from last night's debate on jobs leaving the United States saying, "Some of these jobs are not coming back but there is great hope for the future."

On the mortgage crisis he said the system needed to be fixed with low interest rates and by not lending money to people who couldn't pay it back. He also clarified comments made at the debate on the recession adding, "I think if we do the right thing we won't go into a recession."

McCain stopped by to meet and greet South Carolina voters at the Applewood Pancake House in Litchfield. He was accompanied by South Carolina Attorney General Henry McMaster and Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C.
