McCain Looks Ahead

NASHUA, N.H. -- There's nothing left for John McCain to do in New Hampshire but wait for the results to come in. So, McCain's campaign is working on future contests.
Following McCain's recent battle over the airwaves with negative ads against Romney - an effort to combat the type mudslinging that may have hurt him in 2000 - today he announced the formation of the "Truth Squad" in South Carolina to counter any negative or misleading attacks targeted at him.
"Given our experience in 2000 we just feel that it's important not to have some of these charges to go unresponded to," McCain told reporters today.
"That does not mean that we will engage in negative campaigning. We haven't and we won't," he said. "Perhaps more importantly if there's anymore of this underground stuff that went on last time, we will try to expose it.
McCain said he's not predicting that it will happen but, "We have to be prepared for it and I think it's just prudent to do so."
