(CBS) Following in the footsteps of his frequent collaborator Ben Affleck, Matt Damon is taking on the co-writing, producing, directing and starring role in an upcoming legal thriller, according to multiple sources.

The Hollywood Reporter said that Damon will be co-starring in the untitled film with "The Office" actor John Krasinski, who also co-wrote the script and co-produced. The Warner Bros. film is said to have similar themes as "Erin Brockovich," but not much has been revealed about the plot.

The film is still in early stages and no deals have been signed, according to The Wrap.

Variety reported that this project is not the rumored "Father Daughter Time" film, which Damon was said to be directing, and Krasinski is pegged to be starring in. Reportedly, this is a separate idea that was originally developed by Krasinski with novelist Dave Eggers. Krasinski then brought Damon on board, who became excited at the prospect of directing the film.

Damon is an Oscar-winning screenwriter, and Krasinski has recently dabbled in writing and directing, including IFC's "Brief Interviews with Hideous Men." Audiences can next see Damon in "We Bought a Zoo," and Krasinski will be in the upcoming "Muppets" movie, as well as the current season of "The Office."
