The charge against Mayes was raised Monday to especially aggravated kidnapping from a lesser conspiracy count.

Court documents show authorities now believe that Mayes confined 12-year-old Alexandria Bain and 8-year-old Kyliyah Bain after her son, Adam Mayes, and his wife, Teresa, took them from their Tennessee home to Mississippi.

Alexandria and Kyliyah were rescued by officers in thick woods in Mississippi. Adam Mayes killed himself when they were discovered.

Mary Mayes' bond was increased from $300,000 to $500,000. Her preliminary hearing and that of her daughter-in-law, Teresa Mayes, were rescheduled for June 19 pending psychological evaluations of both women.
