NEW YORK (CBS) Pop singer Mariah Carey seems to be barking up the wrong tree with one New York City veterinarian.

The 40-year-old entertainer is reported to owe over $37,800 in veterinarian bills to Dr. Cindy Bressler for the "extraordinary services" of her three Jack Russell terriers: Cha-Cha, Dolomite and JJ, sources allege.

According to the New York Daily News, Carey is accused of paying only $8,231.50 to Bressler for services performed between last Oct. 31 and Dec. 2. A suit has been filed in Manhattan Supreme Court by Dr. Bressler.

Dr. Bressler's attorney spoke with TMZ.com and said the vet was in charge of grooming the three dogs while Carey was in Los Angeles promoting the motion picture "Precious." According to the attorney, Bressler also delivered the singer's Jack Russell terrier Dolomite last year.

Just this weekend, Carey welcomed a new puppy into the world. On June 20 she tweeted: "Also... Also..breaking news...ChaCha & JJ's newest puppy now has a (Drum roll pls) name!.... Jackie Lambchops(said like Tony Soprano)." [sic]

JJ once starred in a series of online comedy sketches with Carey, with rapper Snoop Dogg providing a voice for the tiny white pooch.
