Maria Shriver hires top divorce lawyer, says report
(CBS/AP) LOS ANGELES - Maria Shriver has reportedly hired a divorce lawyer, but hasn't decided yet whether she wants to legally split with Arnold Schwarzenegger after he admitted that he fathered a love child with a member of his household staff.
According to People magazine, sources close to Shriver say Laura Wasser, described as a "prominent Los Angeles family law attorney," is representing her.
"Maria hasn't decided yet if she wants to end her marriage," People quotes one source as saying. Wasser was hired before word of Schwarzenegger's affair became public, the magazine adds.
Meanwhile, the name of the mother of Schwarzenegger's teenaged love child is now known.
According to ABC News, Mildred Baena, known as Patty, had worked for Schwarzenegger as an assistant and housekeeeper for more than 20 years.
According to RadarOnline.com, Baena threatened to go public with the
news that she had given birth to Schwarzenegger's son, and that
prompted the actor's public admission.
Baena, the boy and her three other children live in Bakersfield, Calif., about an hour north of Los Angeles. A neighbor told local station KABC that Baena's teenage son is "polite and very cordial, someone you want to be around."
A photo of the boy posted on Baena's MySpace page shows a fairly strong resemblance to Schwarzenegger, particularly when the former governor and movie star was younger.
Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver jointly announced May 9 that they were splitting up after 25 years of marriage. Shriver moved out of the family's Brentwood mansion earlier in the year after Schwarzenegger acknowledged the child is his, The Los Angeles Times reported Tuesday.
