Man survives Niagara Falls plunge

(CBS News) A man believed to have been suicidal survived a jump into Niagara Falls Monday, CBS News affiliate station WIVB reports.

Man survives 180-foot drop down Niagara Falls

When rescue crews reached the man almost an hour after the plunge over the Horseshoe Falls, he was suffering from hypothermia, had fractured ribs, and cuts to his head and face.

According to reports, the man, believed to be in his 30s or 40s, is the third person to have survived the falls without a barrel for protection.

WIVB reports the man is currently in stable condition, recovering at a local hospital.
