PHILADELPHIA --Moments after speaking with a local political candidate Sunday, and while still chatting with an aide to the politician, a 21-year-old Philadelphia man was shot and killed,reports CBS Philly.

Alex Cherry died from two gunshot wounds to the head around 3:30 p.m. Cherry had just spoken with Chris Rabb, a candidate for the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, before he was killed, a member of Rabb's campaign staff told the station.

A member of Rabb's staff was said to be talking to the victim at the moment the shooting happened.

Authorities believe a shooting nearby that occurred hours later may have been retaliation for Cherry's death. In that incident a man got out of an SUV and fired shots at around 7:30. A bullet sent 18-year-old Elijah Fraizer to the hospital where he died.

Another 17-year-old boy suffered a graze wound, police said.
