Man arrested in Texas after daughters found dead in N.Y.

NEW YORK – An arrest has been made in the case of two young girls and their mother found stabbed to death in their home in Queens after authorities in Texas captured the girls’ father early Tuesday morning, reports CBS New York.

According to the NYPD, local police took Miguel Mejia-Ramos, 28, into custody at a vehicle roadblock in Schulenburg, Texas, located between Houston and San Antonio.

The suspect’s daughters, one-year-old Yaslin Mejia and 2-year-old Daniela Mejia, and their 21-year-old mother, Deisy Garcia, were discovered by other household members in a bedroom of their Jamaica apartment Sunday night with multiple stab wounds in their chests.

Authorities confirmed that Mejia-Ramos, who was arrested by U.S. Marshals and Texas police on a New York warrant, is a suspect in the fatal stabbings.

Relatives of the family said Mejia-Ramos lived with Garcia and the girls in the Queens apartment and that the couple often argued about drinking and the children crying too much.

Officers received calls of domestic harassment twice last year, but found no signs of physical abuse and made no arrests either time they visited the apartment, police said.
