WASHINGTON -- The White House attacked the press multiple times this week for reporting on information that the White House itself had supplied.
CBS News’ chief White House correspondent Major Garrett told Scott Pelley that one such incident was the White House’s claim that both of President Trump’s finalists for the Supreme Court nomination, Neil Gorsuch and Thomas Hardiman, would travel to Washington for the announcement.
It turned out that only Gorsuch, who turned out to be Mr. Trump’s nominee, made the trip.
The White House then criticized the media for reporting the information it had previously given out.
