Lower Your Printing Costs by Up to 70% Without Changing Your Printer
As we previously reported, you might be spending as much as 3% of your annual revenue on printing. There are a number of strategies you can employ to cut your costs, but the best ones are totally automated and painless -- so the only way you know you're doing them is when you see a better bottom line.
Here's just such an alternative: Preton is a free program that regulates how much ink your printer uses, saving you anywhere between 10% and 70%, depending upon how you configure it.
Preton doesn't care what you're sending to the printer -- it works with all Windows programs. A simple control panel lets you dial in how much ink to use when printing text and images on a scale from "no savings" all the way up to 70%. Or, if you prefer, you can block the printing of images or text entirely. The higher you raise the slider, the more ink you'll save, but the lower the quality of the print -- so you can configure it for fairly low quality drafts most of the time, but change the settings when printing final reports.
The program works with most printers, including those from HP, Epson, Canon, Lexmark, and Xerox.
