"Love Tester" Mood Rings, Necklaces Recalled

In the mood for lead?

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has announced a voluntary recall of "Love Tester" mood rings and necklaces that contain high levels of lead.

The China-manufactured jewelry was sold in small retail stores nationwide from September 2005 through June 2010 for about $4. The CPSC reports D&D Distributing-Wholesale Inc., of Tacoma, Wash., imported about 19,000 rings and 4,000 necklaces.

According to the CPSC, no injuries have been reported.

Lead is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects. Consumers are advised to return the products for a full refund or replacement product.
