LA man arrested after cops find son and wife slain
LOS ANGELES -- A Los Angeles man was arrested Friday morning after police found his two-year-old son and wife slain at their family home on Thursday, reports CBS LA.
It was not immediately clear how the woman and child were killed.
Algernon Rieux, 26, the husband and father of the victims, reportedly ran past his mother when she came over to check on her grandson, Joshua Rieux, Thursday morning and discovered him unconscious.
According to CBS LA, when deputies arrived at the home, the grandmother was crying for help while attempting to perform CPR. She told authorities that Joshua's mother, Jacquline Montoya Rieux, 26, needed help in the other room.
The woman and child were pronounced dead at the scene.
Neighbors reported that Jacqueline and Algernon, had a history of domestic violence.
In past years, he was sent to jail for choking his wife.
Officials searching for Rieux reportedly received a tip that led to his arrest early Friday.
According to detectives Rieux was bipolar, possibly suicidal, and may have been under the influence of methamphetamine when he allegedly committed the murders.
