Lohan's Dad: I Hope "She'll Open The Door"

In his first interview since his release from prison, Michael Lohan, the father of actress Lindsay Lohan, said he's ready to repair the broken relationship with his daughter, New York Newsday reports.

As The ShowBuzz reported Tuesday, Lohan was released from a Collins Correctional Facility in New York where he served nearly two years.

"I think she knows she needs us both," Lohan told the newspaper, referring to Lindsay's mother Dina. "I'm going to wait, and when she sees I'm walking the walk, I'm hopeful she'll open the door."

Lohan, who has been estranged from his daughter for some time, told Newsday he went to Bible college while behind bars and became a minister with the Assemblies of God Ministry. He said he hopes to help troubled youth.

He did not reveal too much about his relationship with his famous daughter. "My relationship with Lindsay — that's personal," he said, adding, "I just want to be there for her. She needs both parents, not just one."

2A spokeswoman from Collins Correctional Facility confirmed Tuesday that Lohan was serving time for attempted assault in the second degree and aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle in the first degree.

Lindsay, who has been spotted by photographers in New York City in recent days, purchased two puppies which she named Dakota and Brooklyn, her rep confirmed on Tuesday.

"She likes dogs," her publicist Leslie Sloan Zelnick said of the new purchase.

There is no official word yet on whether Lindsay will see her father.
