Liza Does The Andes?

In the past few years Liza Minnelli has had at least three surgeries, lost her voice, gained some weight and quit her drinking. Most recently, health concerns caused her to cancel her tour of Minnelli on Minnelli, a tribute to her film director father Vincent Minnelli.

But the diva's life is wearing thin, she told CBS News Sunday Morning Correspondent Richard Schlesinger, and Minnelli's been thinking about the next chapter of her life, which might include working with underprivileged children in Peru.

It's not exactly a logical extension for this show biz thoroughbred, who's won the rare trifecta of an Oscar, a Tony and an Emmy.

"Well, it sounds little out there, but you know, it's your life," said Schlesinger in a segment scheduled for broadcast Sunday.

Minnelli is unfazed. "It's just the possibilities, and it's the possibilities that I love, you know," she said.

Nor is she interested in whether others approve or can even picture her doing such work.

"To hell with other people's opinions. I'm on my own broom. I intend to stay there. I made it this far and I always will," Minnelli said.
