List Of GM Plant Closings

As part of General Motors' bankruptcy filing, the automaker will be closing 9 new plants and idling three. The company will also close three service and parts centers.

Below is a list provided by GM, along with the effective dates (which may come earlier, as the market demands):

Assembly Plants

Wilmington, Del. – Closing – July, 2009
Pontiac, Mich. – Closing – October, 2009
Orion, Mich. – Idling – September, 2009
Spring Hill, Tenn. – Idling – November, 2009

Stamping Plants

Grand Rapids, Mich. – Closing – June 2009 (previously announced)
Mansfield, Ohio – Closing – June 2010
Indianapolis, Ind. – Closing – December, 2011
Pontiac, Mich. – Idling – December, 2010

Powertrain Plants

Livonia Engine, Mich. – Closing – June 2010
Flint North Components, Mich. – Closing – December 2010
Willow Run Site, Mich. – Closing – December 2010
Parma Components, Ohio – Closing – December, 2010
Fredericksburg, Va. – Closing – December, 2010
Massena Castings, NY – Closed – May 1, 2009 (previously announced)

Service and Parts Operations

Boston, Mass. – Closing – December 31, 2009
Jacksonville, Fla. – Closing – December 31, 2009
Columbus, Ohio – Closing – December 31, 2009
