Lightning Trade Nazarov To Flames
The exodus of veterans from Tampa Bay continued today when the Lightning traded hard-hitting right wing Andrei Nazarov to the Calgary Flames for center Michael Nylander.
The deal comes one day after Tampa Bay sent playmaking center Craig Janney to the New York Islanders for a 1999 sixth-round draft choice.

Nazarov, 24, has two goals and 43 penalty minutes in 26 games this season, his fifth in the NHL. The 6-5, 230-pound enforcer has 591 penalty minutes and only 26 goals and 29 assists in 209 NHL games with the Lightning and San Jose Sharks. His best season was 1996-97, when he posted career highs with 12 goals, 15 assists and 222 penalty minutes in 60 games for the Sharks.
Nylander, 26, has played only nine games this season and has two goals and three assists. He missed the first 23 games with a knee injury and has been a healthy scratch for 12 contests.
The 5-11, 195-pound Swede joins his third team during a six-year career that began in 1992-93 with the Hartford Whalers. Nylander was traded to the Flames in March 1994 and had his best season in 1995-96 with Calgary, totaling 17 goals and 38 assists in 73 games.
