Leonard Rallies To Capture TPC

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. -- Justin Leonard shot a five-under 67 Sunday to come from five shots off the lead and win the Players Championship, earning $730,000, the richest first-place prize in golf.

It was Leonard's first win since he won the Open Championship last summer, when he also made up a five-shot final-round deficit. He finished at 278, 10 under par.

Leonard took the lead Sunday with a birdie on the par-4 13th hole, which pulled him ahead of Glen Day and Len Mattiace, who were both looking for their first PGA Tour wins.

Day and Tom Lehman finished tied for second at 8-under.

Lee Janzen, who started the day with a three-shot lead, had a disappointing three-over 39 on the front side, and ended up tied for 13th after shooting a 79.
