LA County Sheriff's Deputy Allegedly Assaulted Ex-Girlfriend with Gun

Sean Delacerda

FULLERTON, Calif. (CBS/AP) Sean Delacerda, a Los Angeles County sheriff's deputy, has been charged with assaulting his ex-girlfriend with a gun after accusing her of cheating.

Orange County prosecutors said Thursday that the 26-year-old man was charged Tuesday with felony assault, kidnapping and false imprisonment. He allegedly showed up at her Orange County home on Sunday, accused her of cheating, pulled out a gun and threatened her.

At one point, he allegedly put the gun in his mouth and pulled the trigger, but it did not fire.

Prosecutors say Delacerda and the woman had dated for two months last year and kept in touch. He allegedly made her show him her e-mail and tackled her when she tried to escape.

Delacerda faces up to 18 years in prison if convicted.
