Ky. doctor charged after taking desk from his old office

A desk, although not this very one, is at the center of a legal dispute involving a Kentucky iStockphoto

(CBS/AP) MAYSVILLE, Ky. - It doesn't quite rise to the level of medical malpractice.

A northern Kentucky doctor is charged with burglary and criminal mischief in a dispute over his former desk - or is it still his desk?

The attorney for Dr. Joseph Morris told The Ledger Independent that the charges stem from "a misunderstanding."

Jeff Schumacher says Morris went to his former office in Maysville, about 80 miles southeast of Cincinnati, to retrieve a desk that belonged to him. However, the current tenant reported the desk was stolen, and said an office door was damaged when the desk was removed.

Morris was indicted Dec. 9, by a Mason County grand jury on third-degree burglary and third-degree criminal mischief charges,  the Ledger Independent reported.

Schumacher says his client didn't move the desk sooner because it was large and he needed help with it. Morris pleaded not guilty to the charges this week.

Says Schumacher: "It's a mountain out of a mole hill."

Let's just say it's not the Conrad Murray case.
