How would you rate your own ability to go online and navigate the Internet? Would you rate yourself an expert, an intermediate, or a beginner?

How often do you go online and access the Internet or World Wide Web? Several times a day, about once a day, 3 or more days a week, only 1 or 2 days a week, once every few weeks, or less often than that?

Do you think that in homes where children have access to the Internet, most parents know MORE than their children about the Internet, or do they know LESS than their children about the Internet, or do they know about AS MUCH AS their children about the Internet?

These days, how important is the ability to use the Internet for school-age children? Would you say it is extremely important, very important, somewhat important, or not at all important?

How important is it for parents of children who use the Internet to know how to use the Internet themselves? Is it extremely important, very important, somewhat important, or not at all important?

How would you rate his/her ability to go online and navigate the Internet? Would you rate him/her an expert, an intermediate, or a beginner?

Asked of those who know less than their child: Does it bother you that you know less about the Internet than your child, or are you comfortable with that?

This poll was conducted among a nationwide random sample of 1,165 adults, interviewed by telephone August 1 - 3, 1999. The error due to sampling could be plus or minus three percentage points based on the entire sample. The sampling error for subgroups is higher.
