Kevin Pollak's Lifelike Drama
Actor Kevin Pollak is starring in his first TV series Work With Me, a romantic comedy about lawyers who are partners in the bedroom as well as the office.
CBS News This Morning's Thalia Assuras reports.
Pollak has been entertaining audiences since he was 10 years old working as a standup comedian. But the turning point in his career came with the movie hit A Few Good Men, when he went from a relatively unknown to a recognized actor sharing the big screen with Tom Cruise, Jack Nicholson and Kevin Bacon.
Other films such as Grumpy Old Men, The Usual Suspects and She's All That were soon to follow.
Now he stars in the CBS series Work With Me, where Pollak says a great co-lead and story line set the show part.
"Nancy Travis and I play a married couple, both lawyers," explains Pollak, who is quick to note, "Don't be frightened; it's not about the law."
And if the show becomes a hit, Pollak points out, it will be good for Americans overall. (As he will get paid more, he will have to pay additional taxes, which would mean more roads and bridges and schools.)
The premise of the show answers the question: Should a married couple work together?
Different relationship conflicts create funny situations. And Pollak is no stranger to such a dilemma. In real life, he has been involved in a production company with his wife Lucy Webb.
In fact, Webb and Travis are the co-executive producers of the show.
"It's great for me to have my wife and best friend watching my back, says Pollak, pointing out that the partnership he shares with Webb can be compared to that of Remington Steele.
"I'm the corporate logo, and she's the brains behind the situation," he adds.
Their real life scenarios, however, will not be seen on TV since Work With Me has a team of writers that work independently.
The show airs Wednesday nights on CBS starting Sept. 29.
