Kermit doesn't rule out presidential run
In a ribbiting conversation with CBS News' Bob Schieffer Thursday, Kermit the Frog talked holiday tips and, being in D.C., politics, fueling speculation a presidential run, maybe even with the "Green Party," could be in the Muppet's future.
"I have been asked before would I consider running for office," Kermit said. "I sort of jokingly said I would have to hop instead of run, but I have to say, I got here last night and already the stock market's up. The economy is already improving."
The veteran chief Washington correspondent was quick to respond, "I think you have figured out politics because the secret to politics is taking credit for what already has happened."
Schieffer and Kermit may have more than a love for "Face the Nation" in common-- Kermit said he tunes in every Sunday. Both are "amphibian Americans," as Kermit put it, referring to Schieffer's lineage as a proud "Horned Frog" from Texas Christian University.
Kermit is in Washington to ring in the holiday season with President Obama and the first family at the annual National Christmas Tree lighting Thursday evening. He'll accompany First Lady Michelle Obama in reading the classic "'Twas the Night Before Christmas."
