Police caught the 11-year-old and a group of her friends writing their names in wet cement outside Middlesex Township Middle School.

"Me and my friends started crying our eyes out" when police said they'd have to take them to the station, Kelly told WWOR.

Unlike most of the other parents, Kelly's have refused to pay the $250 fine to her middle school and to sign a parent/child and police agreement as punishment, according to the station.

Kelly's father says his daughter is an honor student and has already learned her lesson. Kelly described herself as "scared" about having to appear in front of a judge.

Middlesex is about 25 miles southwest of Newark.
