Kelly Preston, John Travolta Have Talked About Having Another Baby For Years

NEW YORK (CBS) News that John Travolta and Kelly Preston are expecting a baby in November shouldn't have come as a surprise to anyone.

The two middle-aged actors have been talking about expanding their family for years, even before their oldest child, son Jett, died last year. Preston is  47.

"[The pregnancy] is not a shock to anyone in their camp," Gossip reporter Paula Froelich told CBS' The Early Show this morning. The two have made a "concerted effort" to have another child together, she said.

But Travolta, 56,  was talking about a third child as far back as March 2007 when he told People magazine he and Preston "were trying for a third but that depends on Kelly's schedule. I leave it up to her."

At the time, he said, "I really like having kids. I enjoy their energy and it keeps everything wonderful and hopeful. I grew up with six kids in my family. I thought I would have five or six."

Jett Travolta, who suffered from autism , was just 16 when he died in January 2009 after suffering a seizure at the family's vacation home in the Bahamas. The couple also has a daughter , Ella Bleu, who is 10.

The Travoltas made news earlier this week when it was learned that two of the family's dogs were killedin a freak accident last week at an airport in Bangor, Maine , where the couple has a home.
