Keep Outlook from Blocking E-mail Attachments
If you've ever tried sending an EXE or VBS file to someone, you know that -- like an overprotective mother -- Outlook prevents you from sending file types that it perceives to be dangerous in an effort to stop the spread of malware. That's great in general, but if you really need to exchange protected files with someone, it can be a bit of a pain as well. You can edit the registry to force Outlook to allow blocked file types, but there's an easier way.
Attach Blocker is an Outlook plugin for Outlook 2007 and 2010. After installing it, you'll find a new tab in Outlook's Options dialog box where you can add file types that Outlook should allow in e-mail attachments.
Of course, you don't need to use an add-in like Attach Blocker; you can enclose blocked files in a zip folder, for example -- but if you send a lot of these kinds of things in e-mail, it's just simpler and easier to do this. [via gHacks]
