(CBS) The futuristic music video for Katy Perry's "ET" debuted earlier today, but the song, which features Kanye West, celebrated a different accomplishment yesterday - it  reached the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart.

That makes Perry's album "Teenage Dream" the first to yield four No. 1 hits since Usher's 2004's album "Confessions," and the ninth artist in the chart's history to hold this achievement.

"I am so thrilled that 'E.T.' has landed at No. 1," Perry told Billboard.com on Wednesday. "I want to thank all the fans who contributed to this amazing feat and radio, which has been an essential part of my continued existence. I truly appreciate all the support of my creative twists and turns."

The 26-year-old is the first female solo artist to hold the honor since Mariah Carey's debut album in 1990.

This is the singer's fifth number No. 1 single. "California Gurls," "Teenage Dream," and "Firework" all spent time at the top of the chart last year, and "I Kissed a Girl," from Perry's album "One of the Boys," spent seven weeks in the top spot back in 2008.
