Katy Perry on new album, "collaborating" with John Mayer

Katy Perry apparently wants to make sure people know about her new studio album. On Monday, she unveiled the album title and release date on the side of a large golden truck that made its way through the streets of Los Agneles. The upcoming set, titled "Prism," will be out on Oct. 22.

She tweeted: "Don't worry, Los Angeles is just the first stop on the map. Find the #PRISM semi, take a picture and I'll RT you."

"Prism" will come on the heels Perry's 2010's hit album, "Teenage Dream," which spawned five hit singles. This time, she's teaming up with Max Martin, Greg Wells and Dr. Luke. But will her on-again, off-again beau John Mayer also be a part of Perry's new music? That remains unclear. While at the "Smurfs" 2 premiere this week in Los Angeles, Extra asked Perry if she's working with her on-again, off-again beau John Mayer on new music. Perry said (with a wink), "We're doing a lot of collaborating." We have a feeling that Perry doesn't mean collaborating in the songwriting sense.

Perry, 28, and Mayer, 35, started dating last year, only to break things off in March. It appears they're back together again, but before reconciling this most recent time, Perry opened up about the split during an interview with Elle U.K. Her comments, which appear in the September 2013 issue of the magazine, suggest that parting ways was emotional: "He pulled away. That was a big hello for me. I realized I could lose the person I loved and I had to deal with some things, issues I think a lot of women have. You can be strong in one aspect of your life but submissive in another...The men I have gone for are challenging, yes, but they're also wildly intelligent and poetic. I'm not interested in taming anyone. I'm pretty wild myself."

Perry also addressed reports that she and Robert Pattinson were an item following Pattinson's split from Kristen Stewart. Perry cleared things up in the Elle U.K. interview, revealing, "I sent her [Stewart] a text message saying, 'I know you've seen all this stuff, but you know I would never disrespect you. I'm not that person. I'm just trying to be a friend to him but it is unfortunate that I do have a set of tits.'"
