Katy Perry, Amy Poehler Help Launch 36th "SNL" Season
NEW YORK (CBS) You may not see pop singer Katy Perry with Elmo on "Sesame Street," but you can see her on NBC this week when "Saturday Night Live" kicks off its 36th season.
"Sesame Street" this week decided not to air a Katy Perry-Elmo segment because the singer was too scantily clad, something that may well find its way into an "SNL" skit this week.
The guest host is former cast member Amy Poehler, who now stars in the NBC comedy "Parks and Recreation." Poehler , on the show from 2001 to 2008, co-anchored the " Weekend Update."
This season also marks the debut of four new cast members, according to Entertainment Weekly - Taran Killam, Paul Brittain, Vanessa Bayer, and Jay Pharoah.
No details are available about other shows this season but the New York Post is reporting that outgoing CNN talk-show host Larry King is actively lobbying "SNL" producers for a hosting gig.
