Katie Holmes Solo At "Hairspray" Premiere
Katie Holmes stepped out for the premiere of "Hairspray" in New York last night to support her pal Queen Latifah. The actress walked the red carpet sans her husband, Tom Cruise.
Wearing a black mini-dress and black stilettos, Holmes stopped to hug Queen Latifah before making her way inside the theatre.
Latifah invited her "Mad Money" costar, Holmes, to the premiere. The two became friends on the set of their upcoming film, which was recently filmed in Louisiana.
"She's cool, man," Latifah said to AP Entertainment. "She's cool. I'm glad she came. Hopefully she will have a good time. I want everyone to go in there and enjoy the movie. I think they will."

"Hairspray" features an all-star cast including John Travolta and Michelle Pfeiffer, but Holmes, who isn't in the movie, stole the show.
Holmes and her husband are also close with actor John Travolta, a fellow Scientologist. He was a guest at their wedding in November 2006.
"Hairspray" is remake of the John Waters' 1988 comedy cult classic. The original film inspired an award-winning Broadway musical.
