Julia Louis-Dreyfus on "Old Christine"

Julia Louis-Dreyfus, the star of the CBS comedy, "The New Adventures of Old Christine," said on "The Early Show" her character has thrived for five seasons on humiliation and dysfunction.

The two-time Emmy winner agreed with "Early Show" co-anchor Harry Smith when he said her character needs a therapist this season.
Former "Will & Grace" star Eric McCormack is taking on the recurring guest role as both Christine's therapist -- and boyfriend.

Louis-Dreyfus said, "I need a therapist and a boyfriend, and that gets bundled up into one. He's a very bad therapist and a very bad boyfriend. So it all works out perfect."

But how does Louis-Dreyfus handle humiliation in real life?

In a word, she said, "badly."

However, Smith pointed out some photographs of himself and Louis-Dreyfus at the White House Correspondents Dinner back in May. Smith and Louis-Dreyfus, who sat beside each other at the event made their way to in front where first lady Michelle Obama and comedian emcee Wanda Sykes were sitting.

"You said, 'I want to go up there and take a picture,'" Smith said. "I said, 'Just follow me. This is my turf.'"

Louis-Dreyfus and Smith snapped some shots near the front. Heads were cut off by the camera, but the photo memories were made.

"(Michelle Obama's) a little cut off," Louis-Dreyfus said, "but that's all right. She doesn't mind, it's a good shot of me."

"That's what really counts," Smith joked.

Louis-Dreyfus smiled and said, "That really does count."

"The New Adventures of Old Christine" airs Wednesday nights at 8:00/7:00 Central on CBS.
