The Dutch national was captured in Chile Thursday after fleeing what police have called a bloody murder scene in Lima, Peru.

Peruvian police want him for the murder of 21-year-old Stephany Flores, whose body was found in a pool of blood in a Lima hotel room Tuesday. Her neck was snapped, but there was no sign of sexual assault.

The 22-year-old van der Sloot also remains the prime suspect in the 2005 disappearance of Alabama teen Natalie Holloway on the Dutch Caribbean island of Aruba.

Friday morning, Van der Sloot was handcuffed and placed aboard a police Cessna 310 in the Chilean capital of Santiago. He is expected to be handed over to Peruvian authorities Friday afternoon.

Chilean police captured van der Sloot on Thursday as he was headed to the country's Pacific coast. They say van der Sloot professed his innocence in Flores' murder.
