(CBS News) Marilyn Manson got some help from a special guest during his performance at Revolver magazine's Golden God Awards show - Johnny Depp.

The actor, 48, came on stage and played guitar while Manson performed "Sweet Dreams" and "The Beautiful People" on Wednesday.

Between songs, Manson, 43, reportedly told the crowd, "If you don't recognize my personal friend ... my personal savior, my personal guitar hero ... Johnny Depp!"

The actor, wearing all black and a feathered hat, occasionally smiled throughout the performance. (You can see video of it here.)

This isn't the first time Depp, who played in a band before his acting career took off, has rocked out with rock stars. Last summer, he joined Alice Cooper on stage at a gig in London.
