John Waters Tackles Art Scene

Director John Waters prides himself on bringing bad taste to mainstream audiences with movies like Hair Spray and Serial Mom. With bad taste at a premium these days, CBS 'This Morning' Co-Anchor Mark McEwen reports, it seems like a good time for Waters' latest film, Pecker.

Waters has created everything from cult favorites to big-screen trash masterpieces. The typical John Waters audience, according to the director himself, has one thing in common: "A sense of humor about themselves and a certain defiance against authority."

Pecker lampoons the contemporary art scene and stars Terminator 2's Edward Furlong. Furlong plays a photographer whose shots of his friends and family become all the rage.

Long considered the king of bad taste, Waters is understandably thrilled with the success of films like There's Something About Mary.

"I laughed in it. I love it that it got an R rating. I thought that was very modern of the Motion Picture Association of America. And now every time I go to pitch a movie, I can say something weird. The executives will say, 'Oh, okay, okay,' because of the hit of Something About Mary."
