John Oliver reminds you why New Year's Eve "is the worst"

The king of amateur nights. Pressure for the 12 o'clock kiss. Expensive dinners. Pricey all-you-can-drink bars where it's nearly impossible to actually get a drink. Not to mention the pressure!

Yep, it's almost New Year's Eve.

And "Last Week Tonight" host John Oliver probably sums up the annual holiday best (for all of you NYE haters our there) in a new Web-exclusive video posted on YouTube.

"New Year's Eve is like the death of a pet," he says. "You know it's going to happen but somehow you're never really prepared for how truly awful it is."

He then offers up pointers on how to deal with some tricky New Year's Eve scenarios you may found yourself in. It's pretty chuckle-worthy and may make you feel better about your plans (or lack thereof) this year.
