Job With Us: Financial and Venture Capital Reporter

ContentNext Media is an independent media and information company with offices in Santa Monica and New York covering the business of digital media. The company operates four award-winning sites: paidContent.org, mocoNews.net, contentSutra.com, and paidContent:UK.
We adding to our financial reporting arsenal, and looking to hire another U.S.-based reporter with a flair for numbers to cover both private and public companies. The primary focus is covering the venture capital industry and fundings in the digital media across various sub-sectors and geographies. In addition, the reporter will cover public company earnings and SEC filings.
The reporter:
-- On the private company side, will track venture investments and crunch numbers based on publicly available information.
-- For public companies, will help report on quarterly earnings, cover earning calls, keep track of SEC filings (primarily 10-Q, 10-K and S-1), and other key financials.
-- Will be reporting from various conferences related to venture capital, deals and digital media industry in general.
-- Will incorporate and add to our industry-leading coverage of deals and companies.
Qualifications:
Of course, ease with numbers is key but must be matched with solid reporting skills and proficiency in current financial reporting techniques. 2-5 years experience with a financial or business publication and newswires. College degree preferred. The right candidate will be comfortable working on deadline in a breaking-news environment and will be an independent self-starter who can work virtually with a global team.
Salary: Commensurate with experience, with generous benefits and options.
Location: U.S. (scheduled workday will take NY market hours into account.) The person will work with our lead financial journalist based in New York City, and editors in U.S. and U.K.
