Job Titles that Scream "I'm Useless!"
The other day, I got forwarded an email from a guy whose job title was "strategist."
Most companies need about one strategy every half-decade...if that. Most strategies -- good ones, at least -- can be written down in two or three paragraphs.
What in God's name could a "strategist" be doing, other than wasting people's time?
Many corporations suffer from bureaucratic bloat and are full of useless individuals who talk big, spout BS and waste everyone's time. And you just KNOW that anyone with the job title of "strategist" falls into this category.
There are a lot of job titles out there that are either incredibly pompous or which immediately suggest that the title holder is a complete waste of space. Or both.
Anyway, here's my initial list of titles that, in my view, simply scream "I'm totally useless and will completely waste your time."
- Strategist
- System Architect
- Organizational Psychologist
- Manager of Green
- Chief Ethics Officer
- Junior Executive
- Sales Expert
- Industry Analyst
- Change Catalyst
- Product Evangelist
- Business Journalist :)
